With one match day remaining in the group stage Angola and Senegal has delivered convincing victory streaks. In the quarterfinal race, six out of eight spot are taken but two will be clinched after the Tuesday drama.
As ever, Angola is present in the medal discussion during the tournament in Kinshasa. No opponent in the group stage has come within reach of the favourite´s capacity and the local league talents are as usual strenghtened by some professionals playing abroad.
Cameroon and DR Congo joins Angola in the playoff-stage while the fourth placed team in group B is yet to be found. Guinea is two points behind Tunisia, having tied their head-to-head duel it’s likely to come down to how big a margin Guinea can create versus Uganda while Tunisia has a tough opponent in Cameroon.
Senegal is a relatively new appearance in the top contingent of the continent. Having reached the medal weekend twice in the last four championships Senegal is on steady course in DR Congo with Egypt and Congo also qualified for the quarterfinals.
Algeria and Cape Verde duel for the fourth place, but the Algerian 20–16 triumph when the involved teams met puts Algeria in the leading position. On the final group day, Algeria just needs to take as many points as Cape Verde, Kenya on the other side of the pitch seems like a good opportunity for Algeria to do just that.
