Ana Gros steps down in Slovenia

The sun has set on Ana Gros career in the Slovenian national jersey. The back court star has decided to call it quits after the olympic tournament in Paris.

”It’s time to say goodbye”, writes Gros in an emotional social media statement. The 33-year-old played a central part in four World championship and five European championship adventures – that is more than half of the European tournaments that Slovenia has participated in so far.

Bringing her birth nation to a first ever Olympic Games was one of many highlights for Gros the last years.  When Slovenia arranged Euro 2022 Gros and her teammates proudly finished eighth in fierce competition.

” I lived it all…it wasn’t always easy, we had many hard and tough defeats, but we also had many great victories…but at the end..that doesn’t count that much as all the memories and people I met during all these years…coaches, physios, officials and others..but mostly all the players of different generations that were at some point part of the national team. It really was special”, writes Gros on her Instagram account.

After the farewell, Gros will still be active in her club team Krim Ljubljana.
