Denmark was weakened when Mie Højlund had to pass on the duel against Norway. With the deciding games in the Main Round coming up, the team brings support in the defense with Mette Tranborg on site in Vienna.
Denmark is two point behind Netherlands and Norway with three rounds remaining. Højlund who couldn’t the play the Thursday game is still doubtful for an appearance versus Germany (Saturday 18:00).
Reinforcement has still arrived in shape of Mette Tranborg. The experienced Team Esbjerg wasn’t included in the original squad having to recover after the heavy strain surrounding her comeback in the Paris Olympics.
– Mette Tranborg has enormous experience from her many final rounds, and we believe that she can come in and become a strong add-on to our defense in particular. She can cover several positions in defense, and in this way we feel that we will have more opportunities to work with. We are pleased that Mette has agreed to step in at such short notice, says the coach Jesper Jensen to the federation´s website.
