Vipers Kristiansand back in economical difficulties

Triple CL winner Vipers Kristiansand was saved from bankruptcy earlier in 2024. A few months later the club is facing another crisis, according to TV2 Norway.

The TV-station brings the news of Vipers demanding situation. Even though five and half million Norwegian crowns were raised to save the club in February and star player Anna Vyakhireva had to leave between seasons the economy is still un-balanced.’

”Shortly after this, two new player contracts were signed. The contracts were very expensive for the club and have greatly contributed to us now being in the situation we are in,” writes the chairman Iglebekk in a letter to the shareholders according to TV2.

During the spring, a new board was constituted in the Norwegian champion. And the workload is tough, with a negative prognosis of a 3,4 million loss towards the end of the year.

– We have a number of ongoing dialogues with new commercial partners. We are in processes with both national and international actors, says newly appointed chairman Peter Gitmark to TV2.

A pressing issue is that Vipers will need to take measures to still be solvent in September.

– We believe that within a short time we will be able to present a realistic budget that covers the whole of 2025, and which has completely different income than today, Gitmark continues.
