Team Esbjerg followed up their opening-day win in the EHF Champions League by defeating Sola 28–25. Star player Henny Reistad led the team with eight goals.
It was an Esbjerg side that came out firing early in front of the home crowd. Nora Mørk got on the scoresheet early with two goals as the hosts took an early 9–4 lead. Then star player Henny Reistad took over the scoring responsibility.
The centre-back led her team to a 16–12 half-time lead. But after the break, it was Sola who found their rhythm, cutting the deficit to 19–18. Esbjerg looked under pressure, but as she usually does, Reistad stepped up again.
Scoring a quick couple of goals, she restored Esbjerg’s three-goal lead, and that proved to be the match winner. Esbjerg managed to hold on to the lead, securing a second straight win in the Champions League.
Two other games were played, with Odense defeating Podravka 31–24 and French side Metz completely running over Gloria Bistrita 40–26.
