Metz stays unbeaten – Vipers win against Ludwigsburg

Metz remains undefeated in the Champions League. Yesterday they beat the Slovenian powerhouse Krim with style.
– We played well, but not as well as we expected. Maybe it was because of our rivals, or maybe because we knew we had to win, said Emmanuel Mayonnade, Head Coach of Metz Handball, after the game.

The weekend’s game of the week was anticipated to be a close one, and the home team, Krim, was only two goals behind at halftime. But after that, everything went Metz’s way.

– In the second half we really lacked it, so the gap grew quickly. We didn’t manage to stage a turnaround. I am very disappointed, said Krims Ana Gros.

Chloe Valentini had an outstanding game, scoring eight out of eight shots from her left wing. She is now the team’s top scorer at the halfway point of the group stage.

In Group B, Vipers Kristiansand claimed an important home victory against last year’s runners-up, Ludwigsburg, largely thanks to Katrine Lunde, who saved almost 43 percent of all shots, while Tuva Hoeve scored ten out of eleven shots for Vipers.

– I’m very happy, and especially the way we defend fills me with pride. We are getting better and better, and only conceding 23 goals shows how good we were, said Tomás Hlavatý, head coach of Vipers Kristiansand.

Vipers now has a closer look on the top four teams in the group, only three points away from that much looked after second place.
