Ludwigsburg update: All players laid off

The economical issues in HB Ludwigsburg is yet to be solved. As the club presents the fact that there is no economic basis to run the operation further in the current state, all players are released from their contracts.

The full extent of Ludwigsburg´s crisis was known two weeks ago when the club filed for insolvency. Despite negotiations to try to secure the funding for the upcoming season no solution has been found.

– Under these circumstances, it is unreasonable for the players to continue to be bound by their contracts. We informed the team about the situation today, says Holger Leichtle, provisional insolvency administrator to the club webpage.

While the players are free to contact and make contracts with other club the efforts of Ludwigsburg continue. At the moment a reduced setup for 2025/26 is researched. If so, the German champion could start on a smaller scale with reduced budget.
