The classic club of Rapid Bucharest brings in Laurent Bezeau in an effort to come closer to the title fight next season. Bezeau thereby returns to club handball, four years after leaving Brest Bretagne.
Bezeau is set to replace David Ginesta on a long-term basis. While taking the chance in Champions League until being eliminated by local rival CSM in the play-offs, Rapid has had a troublesome domestic season with fourth place in the Romanian Cup and a current sixth position in Liga Nationala.
Bezeau was in charge of BBH for eight seasons with a magnificent final leading to silver in Champions League. The 56-year-old moved on to work with the French federation in preparing for the Olympic Games in Paris.
”Laurent Bezeau will be present on the team’s technical bench when preparations for the new season resume, after which the full composition of the technical staff will be presented in the next period”, Rapid writes in social media while also announcing that Florin Ciupitu leads the team in the final efforts of 2024/25.
