Györi defended their title – defeated Odense in the final

Györi had the chance to defend their title from last season – and they made the most of it. The Hungarian powerhouse defeated Odense in the final, winning 29–27.

Györi booked their spot in the final after edging past Team Esbjerg by a single goal. In the other semifinal, extra time was needed to separate Metz and Odense.

The final got off to a furious start – at least for Györi. The Hungarian side stormed out to a 7–2 lead, a dream start in any Final Four showdown. Odense had a shaky opening but gradually found their rhythm and closed the gap to 9–5.

Per Johansson’s team responded by shifting into an even higher gear, pulling ahead to 13–6. Odense, however, managed to claw their way back into the game, thanks to an effective seven-against-six strategy and a strong performance in goal from Katrine Lunde. Even though the Danish side regained momentum, Györi pushed back once again and went into halftime with a 20–15 lead.

Kari Brattset Dale, Dione Housheer, and Estelle Nze Minko were key contributors in Györi’s attack. Meanwhile, Odense continued to close the gap. Still, Györ managed to stay in control, and the Hungarian side ultimately emerged victorious.
