Esbjerg seal bronze after tight clash with Metz

Once again, Esbjerg found themselves in the third-place match of the Champions League, this time facing French side Metz in a direct battle for the bronze. The Danish team came out on top, winning 30–27.

For the fourth consecutive season, Esbjerg had a chance to reach the final, but once again fell short. Instead, they were forced to settle for the bronze medal match after a semifinal defeat. Metz were in a similar position, having lost to Odense after extra time.

The match was tightly contested from start to finish. Esbjerg started strong and built a narrow early lead, but Metz quickly responded to level the score at 6–6. Henny Reistad then stepped up and guided Esbjerg to a slim halftime advantage, 17–16.

Early in the second half, Metz managed to turn the game around and take the lead. But Esbjerg refused to back down, equalizing at 25–25 before pulling ahead to 27–25, with Reistad continuing to drive the attack. The Danes held their lead, and Elin Hansson’s goal with a minute remaining sealed the victory.
