CL: Odense and Esbjerg to quarter-final

In the final round of the group stage two danish teams secured quarter-final spots after conquering Romanian sides. Odense HB defended second place on home ground against CSM Bucharest and Team Esbjerg took two points away, which also kept Rapid Bucharest out of play-off action. 

Audi Györi ETO KC and Metz HB won their respective group but there were drama behind the absolute top teams. 

Odense ran successfully in the first half, with support from Althea Reinhardt between the posts to reach 16-11 at the half-time. CSM managed to close a bit if the gap with super scorer Cristina Neagu (now over 1 100 goals in CL) producing seven hits for the guests. 

Evelina Eriksson saved considerably more shots and the chasing team was just two goals behind when Dionne Housheer and Bo van Wetering stepped in to increase distance. All in all, Odense was just the better side and Bucharest had to settle for fourth place.

Györi and Odense cruise to quarter-final via group A, while Brest Bretagne, Bucharest, Debrecen and SG BBM Bietigheim will be in action in the play-off round. 

In group B, the close race for a rest period meant that Team Esbjerg fought off local rival Ikast HB by one point in the summary. Esbjerg used Henny Reistad´s star qualities and flashes of brilliance from Nora Mørk to beat Rapid Bucharest with a nine goal margin. Metz and Esbjerg both received 22 points, but the aggregate scores secured French top spot in the table.
