CSM București got off to winning ways in the EHF Champions League. Despite being down in the first half, the Romanian side managed to turn the game around and secure a big 37–29 win against RK Krim.
It was an inspired RK Krim who came out in front of their home fans on the opening day of the Champions League. Nina Zulić was firing on all cylinders early on as the home side jumped out to an early lead.
Krim kept their advantage throughout the first half, leading 19–17 going into the break. Then it looked like it was going to be a close game, but it was a completely different București who came out in the second half.
Defensively, the away side really stepped up, which allowed București to punish Krim on the counter-attack. The lead quickly evaporated, and after just ten minutes in the second half, București had taken a 25–22 lead.
After that, the away side could easily pull away to a comfortable win and secure their first two points of their Champions League campaign. Separately, Esbjerg defeated Dortmund 33–24 away in their first game.
