The Danish national team and top club Odense will be without their star right wing Andrea Aagot for a while. Exactly how long she’ll be out remains unclear.
– It’s super frustrating. I’m just sitting and waiting to be able to help the girls, the 24-year-old told Danish TV 2 Sport.
Andrea Aagot hasn’t played a handball match since March 26. Now, she’s explained the reason to TV 2 Sport. The right winger has been dealing with back issues, and it’s still uncertain when she will return to action.
– I’ve had back problems for a longer period. We’ve tried to manage it by easing me in and out of games. But now we’ve decided that I’ll be out for a while to get it under control, Aagot explained.
She was selected for Denmark’s most recent national team squad but had to withdraw due to the injury.
Despite the setback, Aagot has scored 58 goals for Odense in the Champions League this season. As recently as January, she was named to the Team of the Week after scoring 12 goals against Győr.
On Sunday, Odense will face Hungarian side Ferencvárosi TC in the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinals.
