Play: Goalfest as Bretagne defeat Gloria

It was an offensive showcase from both sides in the first quarterfinal of the EHF Champions League between CS Gloria and Brest Bretagne. The French side edged a 36–35 win, taking a one-goal advantage into the return leg.

With a semifinal spot at stake, both teams came out firing from the start. Backed by their home crowd, Gloria opened strongly and grabbed an early 6–4 lead, with Danila So Delgado Pinto scoring three quick goals.

Bretagne quickly found their rhythm, however, and a 4–0 scoring run midway through the half turned the game around. The visitors held onto that momentum and went into halftime with a 19–17 lead, in a half dominated by attacking play from both sides.

After the break, the away team extended their lead to five goals, much thanks to Onacia Ondono, who led the scoring.

At that point, it looked like Bretagne would take a commanding advantage into the second leg. However, Gloria found new energy late in the game. With a strong finish, the home side managed to cut the deficit to just one goal, losing 35–36.

The result leaves the tie wide open, with the return leg set to be played on April 26.
