Kristina Jørgensen, back court star in Denmark and Györi ETO KC face a battle against the clock to make it to the European Championship. A shoulder injury during training with her club team might even keep the 26-year-old out of the competition.
Györi´s first update meant that Jørgensen had to pass the final Champions League game of the autumn. After further examination Györ´s had another announcement Monday evening.
“After the MRI examination, in consultation with our club’s medical staff, the handball player will start conservative therapy with the Danish national team. Whether she can participate in the Austrian-Swiss-Hungarian European Championship starting at the end of November is still questionable”, the club wrote in social media.
On a positive note, Jørgensen avoids operation. In a comment to TV2 Denmark’s national coach Jesper Jensen pointed out that her Euro participation will be evaluated on a day-by-day basis.
– The most important thing is Kristina’s ability and that she can play handball for many years to come. Then the European Championship is a side issue, even if the rest of us would like to have her with us, he said to TV2.
