A heavy 22–37 home defeat to GOG proved to be the final straw for HØJ Elite. The club announced on its website that it has terminated the contracts of head coach Stian Tønnesen and assistant coach Patrik Liljestrand with immediate effect.
It has been a difficult period for HØJ Elite in the Danish league. The team is winless in its last six matches and has collected just one point during that stretch. As a result, HØJ Elite currently sits ninth in the standings, outside the playoff positions.
Yesterday’s clash with GOG turned into a major disappointment, and the heavy loss ultimately led the club’s management to dismiss the coaching staff.
– We would like to thank Stian and Patrik for their efforts and the great commitment they have shown to HØJ Elite. It is never an easy decision to change the coaching staff, but as a club we have a responsibility to take the measures we believe are necessary to achieve the best possible results for the team,” said CEO Lars Vinther.
The club has not yet announced who will take over as new head coach.
