Rhein-Neckar Löwen has agreed on a three-year-deal with Gino Steenaerts from HC Kriens-Luzern and Switzerland.
– When the request came from the Lions, I didn’t have to think long, even though I’ve always enjoyed playing for my hometown club, says Steenaerts to the club webpage.
Steenaerts advance to the Bundesliga environment and breaks up from Kriens-Luzern.
– I don’t want to miss out on the chance to play in the Bundesliga and thus in the strongest league in the world, this perhaps once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. In addition, I will have a real legend in this position as my partner in Patrick Groetzki, he adds to the club website.
In other player information, defensive ace Olle Forsell Schefvert was rumoured by Sport Bild in close contact with MT Melsungen for a transfer in the summer.
Steenaerts in confirmed and arrives within half a year.
– He (Steenaerts) is already at a high athletic level, which allows him to cover in the half position. That makes our system even more variable, says Uwe Gensheimer, the future sports director of the Rhein-Neckar Löwen.
