Gornik Zabrze, twelve times medalist in Poland will cease to exist as a club. TVP looks into the case as the classic club has filed for bankruptcy.
Gornik Zabrze lost the bronze medal duel last season, but the economical situation caught up with the club. Since a few weeks is has been clear that the team would be left out of the top flight, Superliga 2025/26.
The latest announcement leaves no room for interpretation.
– We are starting the company’s bankruptcy process. This is a very difficult decision. I believed it would be avoided, but today I don’t see any other option, said the owner and president Bogdan Kmiecik to the club webpage.
As a an immidiate effect all players contracts are terminated. Several transfers has been presented but the Romanian national player Dan-Emil Racotea and Polish right wing Krzysztof Komarzewski are still looking for a new club.
Zabrze was a constant Superliga team for the last 14 seasons and won championship titles on 1989 and 1990.
