Kolstad takes game one vs Elverum

For the third consecutive year it’s Elverum and Kolstad fighting for the gold in the Norwegian league. Kolstad, who have won both of the previous encounters, managed to get a 31–25 win on the road, to take a 1–0 lead in the finals.

Yesterday, the two giants in Norwegian Handball faced off in a finals series once again. Both teams had fairly comfortable ways to the final, with Kolstad losing one game to Naerbo being the only misstep. Elverum welcomed Kolstad to a packed Terningen Arena for the first game.

Despite the pressure from the home fans, Kolstad got off to a better start, getting an early 7–3 lead. The big reason being Torbjørn Bergerud in goal. The rest of the first half was a back and forth between the two teams, ending with Kolstad going into halftime with a three goal lead.

After the break, only one team showed up. With Kolstad being able to extend the lead all the way to eight goals. Elverum made an effort and cut the lead to four goals, buh that was as close as it got. The game finished 31–26 with the away team taking a big road win, with the series now going to Kolstad for game two. Simon Lyse and Simon Jeppsson both put up big performances, combining for 19 goals for Kolstad.

Next game is on Wednesday, 18:15.
