Dominik Máthé is set to return to action with Norwegian club Elverum next season. The right back, who has struggled with major injury issues, has signed a contract that runs through the 2025/2026 season.
Máthé is making a comeback to Elverum, the club he left in 2022 to join PSG. In 2024, he was set to join Polish side Kielce, but the transfer fell through due to a knee injury. Instead, he has completed his rehabilitation in collaboration with Elverum and has now chosen to make his long-awaited return with the club.
– I’m very happy. I want to help the team win titles. I still have some rehab left, but I’m aiming to be 100 percent fit by the autumn, Máthé told Elverum’s official website.
Elverum opened the door early for their former star when he suffered the injury. For the club, this is both a significant sporting boost and an important gesture in supporting Máthé’s return to the court.
– I’m very happy that Máthé will finally be back on the court after everything he’s been through in recent seasons. And it’s even more special that his comeback will be here in Elverum, said head coach Børge Lund to the club website
If Máthé can return to the level he played at before his injury, he will be a major addition for Elverum. In 50 matches for PSG, he scored 126 goals and won both the league and the cup with the French giants.
