Poland will miss the main round. This became clear after the country’s loss in the decisive group-stage match against Switzerland.
As recently as 2016 at the Rio Olympics, Poland reached the semifinals, where they were eliminated by Denmark after extra time. In this year’s World Championship, it is now confirmed that the national team will finish last in their group and will thus compete in the Presidents Cup.
Poland had everything in their own hands heading into the final round of the group stage, but they lost the crucial match against Switzerland 28–30. The last time Poland played in the Presidents Cup was in 2017 when the team finished in 17th place.
With the victory, Switzerland secures second place in the group. Germany won the group after defeating the Czech Republic in the decisive match with a score of 29–22.
