Luka Cindrić looks set to miss the 2025 World Championship, reports Croatian media. National team coach Dagur Sigurdsson has confirmed that the Veszprem player has not trained since mid-December, according to the news site Sportske novosti.
The national team star has missed Croatia’s friendly matches against Italy and North Macedonia. Today, the team faces Slovenia in their final match before the home World Championship, and Sigurdsson says that Cindrić will not play, reports the newspaper Vecernji list.
– Klarica and Grahovac will definitely play on Friday, but Cindrić will not. He hasn’t trained throughout December, and it’s uncertain if he will be ready.
Croatia has won both of their warm-up games ahead of the World Championship, but Sigurdsson is not satisfied with how the team has performed.
– We won, but there are many things I’m not happy with. Some parts of the game were disastrous. We need to work on these mistakes and fix them quickly because the tournament is starting soon, said the Icelander, according to Vecernji list, after the 27–25 victory against North Macedonia.
