Domagoj Duvnjak injured – out of World Cup action

Domagoj Duvnjak had to leave the World Cup game Friday evening with a calf injury. Further devastating news soon arrived, the Croatian legend has to abandon the entire championship – his last in the national jersey.

The Croatian icon, Duvnjak had already announced his intention with a farewell World Championship playing for the local supporters.

The team captain was only seen on courts for eight minutes against Argentina. Then he left with a limp and received treatment behind the bench. Several Croatian media sources report that he went to the locker room in tears.

On a media meeting, Dagur Sigurdsson confirmed the serious injury and the World Championship is definitely over for the Croatian star of a generation.

The situation for Duvnjak is sadly compared with the events during Euro 2018 in Croatia when a calf injury made him exit the tournament.

Meanwhile, Croatia tries to handle the setback. Igor Karacic has been brought in to the squad and Luka Cindric becomes captain in Duvnjak´s absence, writes 24Sata.
