Jota Gonzalez was appointed new head coach of the men’s national team in Poland a few weeks ago. The federation, ZPRP looks to Spain again to strengthen the coaching team, Julen Aguinagalde gets an assisting capacity.
Aguinagalde took his pivot player career to legend status with immense quality performances for Spain and numerous club teams. Among them, the Polish giant Industry Kielce for seven years (2013-20)
– I spent seven very good years in Kielce, so whenever I returned to Poland after returning to Spain, I felt very sentimental. This was the case, for example, during the trip to Głogów in the Europa League with Bidasoa. I think I still remember how to speak Polish quite well.
– I will never forget the farewell that the Kielce fans organized for me. Although due to the pandemic we could not say goodbye in the stands, they came to my apartment and created a great atmosphere and an unforgettable experience, he says to the federation website.
Gonzalez and Aguinagalde have already started working with the current edition of the men’s team. Poland meet Israel and Romania at home later this week to qualify for next year’s European Championship.
– I hope that I will be able to help the players by sharing my experience. I have a great passion for work and I will do everything in my power to help the team. You never know what will come in handy in a new job, but I can say that I have always attached great importance to a good attitude to competition, skillful reading of the game and neutralizing the opponent’s ideas, so I hope that I will be able to help in these aspects, Aguinagalde continues to the federation webpage.
