Spain, Portugal and Switzerland co-host the Men’s Euro 2028. In two and half years Zurich will be the site for two groups in the preliminary round, according to the website of the Swiss Handball federation.
Between Thursday, January 13, and Tuesday, January 18 Switzerland will be buzzing with handball. More precisely, Zurich will be the center of attention for eight of the 24 teams starting the tournament.
– At the 2028 European Championships in Zurich, the Swiss national team will be taking on one of the biggest stages in its history. With recent successes in mind, we want to inspire fans in Zurich far beyond our community and ignite a lasting enthusiasm for handball. Winning a medal would further fuel this. We’re looking forward to a fantastic European Championship, says federation vice president Luzia Bühler to handball.ch.
Besides Switzerland it’s already been established that Germany (if qualified) will play their group games in Zurich.
