Out of all the male teams in the Paris Olympic Games, the danish handball squad rose to the stars. At the ANOC Awards 2024, the gold medalist received another award to highlight the effort.
ANOC, an association of the world’s 206 national Olympic committees based the prize on the work of a jury consisting of representatives from all continental Olympic committees.
At a gala in Portugal, Hans Lindberg took the stage to receive the award on ehalft on the entire red and white team.
– I am proud that our performance at the Olympics has been recognized so widely even outside the handball world. As a team, in addition to the game of handball, we also focus on having good camaraderie and playing with a joy and radiance that we are having fun together. I am glad that others have also noticed and makes the award as the best male team at the Olympics something very special, said the coach Nicolaj Jacobsen in a comment to the federation website.
Other award winners at Wednesday’s event included the Italian female volleyball team. Lisa Carrington, kayaker from New Zealand and the table tennis player Ma Long (China) received prizes for outstanding sporting careers.
