Olympiacos and Valur in title duel

Two teams from Greece and Iceland will face each other in the European Cup Final. Olympiacos SFP and Valur ruled in the return games of the semifinal stage and can prepare for the gold duel in three weeks time.

The classic Greek club Olympiacos had yet to make it to an European final. But 39–32 versus Ferencvaros separated the two combattants after a tight opening act. Savvas Savvas scored ten times from his left back position and the enthusiastic supporters soon caught sight of something big for their favourite team.

Minaur Baia Mare had home advantage but a major uphill since last weeks encounter. A slight change of tactics caught the Romanian team off guard, pivot Andri Finnson scored nine times for the guest and Valur controlled the action from the front. In the end Valur won by six goals and had a 14 goal-margin in the final discussion.

The European campaign has been long but successful for Valur, twelve games and twelve wins account for huge self confidence before the finals in May.
