After some turmoil the return game between RK Partizan and AEK Athens had to be postponed and moved to neutral ground. A penalty shootout finally secured Athens semifinal spot in European Cup.
Security reasons was the cause of the matchup in Belgrade not to be finished on the last weekend in March. The Greek team returned to the dressing room and refused to play, while serious bangs where heard in the arena and Partizan fans for example threw pyro on the court.
The second game in the double-header started with a five-goal lead for Athens and was arranged in Shaman. Bulgaria without spectators on site.
AEK had a chance in the final attack before full time, but the decision was made on penalties. Athens keeper Dan Tepper saved brilliantly to allow the team access among the top four.
AEK meet HC Izvidac in the semifinal 19/20 and 26/27 April while HC Alkaloid and Runar Sandefjord battle to reach the final on the same weekends.
