The final matches in the penultimate round of Euro 2026 was a joyful occasion for Faroe Islands, Spain, Montenegro, Netherlands and Georgia. The five nations will be seen in championship action during the winter.
Faroe Islands had a hardfought win over Kosovo away, but pushed through in the final minutes for 25–23. In the same group, Netherlands was more than a match for Ukraine and secured the Euro ticket with 35–27.
The inconceivable idea of a major tournament without Spain was not at stake in Fasano. Jordi Riberas squad put enough distance down to Italy, 33–29. The challenger still has a chance to qualify during the weekend.
Montenegro celebrated at the expense of Finland, 33–28 after Branko Vujovic´s powerful right back play. Georgia gained the chance for further championship routine, 29–26 against Greece led definitely to a top two position as Georgia joins Iceland to qualify.
The battle is still on for eight spots in the tournament hosted by Denmark, Norway and Sweden. In group 1 North Macedonia and Lithuania meet up to reach the mark and in group 8 there’s a three-team discussion with possibility for either Romania, Poland or Israel to became second. The four best third-ranked teams will also qualify after late Sunday night calculation.
