Germany have been dealt a tough injury blow. Patrick Groetzki still has problems with an foot injury and will be out for the tournament.

Germany will head in to the EHF Euros with a lot of pressure, as they are the hosting nation. But now, only days before the first game, they have been hit by a tough loss.

On their website the German federation has now confirmed that the right winger Patrick Groetzki will be out for the tournament. The reason is that he still has problems with a foot injury, that has plagued him during this autumn.

– We feel for him and wish him all the best for his upcoming rehab. We will now coordinate internally how we will react after this failure. We have until January 9th to report the official squad to the EHF, says Axel Kromer, Sports Director of the German Handball Association.

The other right winger in the German squad is Timo Kastening. The squad also includes Christoph Steinert, who is brought as an alternative for the right wing and wight back position.
