Transfer Rumor: Elliot Stenmalm from KS Kielce to Ystads IF

Ystads IF has struggled in the Swedish Handballsligan during the start of the season. But now, a high-profile reinforcement might be on the way. Handbollskanalen.se has learned that the club is reportedly in the process of bringing in Elliot Stenmalm from the Polish team KS Kielce.

Ystads IF hasn’t had the desired start to the season and has accumulated six points after eight matches played. However, it seems that the team from the south of Sweden might be approaching a significant strengthening.

According to reliable information provided to Handbollskanalen.se, the club is close to reaching an agreement with Elliot Stenmalm, who currently belongs to the Polish Champions League team Kielce.

Stenmalm already has his older brother, Philip, in Ystads IF and is not part of Kielce’s team currently in Saudi Arabia to play the Super Globe. According to Handbollskanalen’s information, Ystad is working to make Stenmalm eligible to play for the team in the Swedish cup quarterfinal against IK Sävehof on Wednesday evening.

It’s unclear in what form the transfer will occur, whether it’s a short or long-term loan or a permanent transfer. Stenmalm’s current contract with Kielce extends until 2025.

Elliot Stenmalm received his handball upbringing at Växjö HF before he moved to Redbergslid. There, he made a significant breakthrough and became one of the Handbollsligan’s biggest profiles before departing for Kielce in the summer of 2022. During last year’s season, Stenmalm was part of the Kielce squad that finished second in the Champions League.
