Perfect start for Magdeburg in Champions League – defeat PSG

SC Magdeburg opened their Champions League-season in style with a 37–31 victory against Paris Saint-Germain in front of their home fans. The defending champions took control late in the first half and never allowed the French side back into the game.

Both teams traded goals early, but once Magdeburg tightened up defensively and capitalised on turnovers, the momentum shifted. A run of fast breaks and clinical finishing saw the hosts lead 21–17 at halftime. Goalkeeper Sergey Hernandez played a key role, not only producing 11 saves but also scoring twice himself.

Felix Claar delivered a standout performance with 10 goals , supported by Òmar Magnusson (8). For PSG, Kamil Syprzak was nearly unstoppable with 11 goals.

PSG never managed to close the gap after the break, struggling to contain Magdeburg’s variety in attack and leaking too many goals.
