Mittún and Zehnder shine as GOG secure first points

GOG bounced back from their opening-round defeat to Sporting CP with a 36–34 victory over PICK Szeged, securing their first points of the Champions League season.

Olí Mittún and Manuel Zehnder were once again at the heart of GOG’s attack, scoring 10 goals each. Mittún was particularly efficient, finding the net 10 times from 11 attempts, while Zehnder scored 10 from 12 attempts.

After conceding 43 goals against Sporting, GOG showed a much-improved defensive performance. Szeged struggled to find their attacking rhythm in the first half, but still led 18–17 at the break.

GOG came out strongly after half-time and, backed by several saves from Kevin Møller, built a four-goal lead at 22–18. Szeged fought back and levelled the score at 32–32 with five minutes remaining.

However, Zehnder scored his tenth goal to put GOG back in front, and the hosts held on for a 36–34 win.
