Matej Mandic focus on blocking the shots from all SC Magdeburg´s adversaries for the next months. The goalkeeper arrives to the Bundesliga and CL club one year earlier than planned with a three-year-contract.
Mandic has played for RK Zagreb since 2021/22, which in other words account for a lot of Champions League experience.
The move for the 23-year-old follows on the decision of four months further suspension for Nikola Portner. Mandic will share the goalkeeper duties with Sergey Hernandez from the start, whom he already was set to replace next summer.
– I am very happy and proud to wear the jersey of one of the best clubs in the world. I will do my best to justify this transfer and try to settle in as quickly as possible, he says to the club webpage.
– With Matej, we’re getting a very talented goalkeeper who brings international experience and a thirst for titles. He will give us the support we need to continue our success. We already had Mandic under contract as a replacement for Sergey Hernandez after his departure in 2026, and we’re pleased that we were able to bring the transfer forward at short notice, comments the head coach Bennet Wiegert to the club webpage.
