Zlatko Horvat, the legendary right wing, played 18 seasons in Zagreb before he surprisingly left for Skopje. However, after three and a half seasons away, he has now returned to play in the blue shirt.
– I have turned 40, some gray hair has appeared, but I think I still have something to offer my club and teammates, said Horvat on Zagreb’s website.
Zagreb has experienced a season filled with injuries and is in deep need of some backup. Fortunately, they have found it in Macedonia, where Zlatko Horvat plays for Dabas KK in the Macedonian first league. An agreement has been reached with Zagreb for a loan deal for the remainder of the season.
– I’m glad that everything happened so quickly and that all parties are satisfied. I hope to be able to help the guys as soon as possible. I’m glad to see how much my return means to the fans, said Horvat.
Horvat has been with RK Zagreb for 26 years, with 18 of those being in the first team. He has helped the team win the league 15 times. Along with that, he has played over 170 matches for the Croatian national team and won silver in both the Olympics and the World Cup. But now, his role is more than just scoring goals.
– For my part, I will try to be helpful on the field, but as Čupko said, I am also a mentor to younger players. I feel good physically, I have turned 40, some gray hair has appeared, but I think I still have something to offer my club and teammates, said Horvat.
