Confirmed: Maik Machulla new coach in Aalborg

As most of the media reports leading up to the press meeting indicated, Maik Machulla was introduced in the role of head coach in Aalborg HB. Come first of July, the German trainer starts a two-year-stint with the Champions League contender.

Machulla has had almost a year to consider many offers since he stepped down in SG Flensburg-Handewitt last April. Then Aalborg approached with their international rocket launch aiming for the top and a very strong squad.

– Obviously, I´m very much looking forward to get started in Aalborg.

– There is an exciting player material to work with and I my goal is for us to win more titles together for the club and develop Aalborg Handball as a solid inventory in the top of European club handball, says Machulla to the club website.

Stefan Madsen still has a few months in charge of the team. The domestic play-off and Champions League action in the quarterfinals are just a few features of an promising spring season before Madsen leaves his club duties.

– In our hunt for a new coach we have first and foremost been focused om putting an experienced man on the job. That has been successful, as Maik arrives at the club after many years in the strong German Bundesliga, and he also provides experience of Champions League–participation with Fllensburg-Handewitt,  says club director Jan Larsen to Aalborg´s website.
