Aalborg HB´s win in Szeged created an impressive end on the autumn campaign. Füchse Berlin and Sporting turned up the heat with Berlin just one goal ahead at the final whistle.
The last night of Champions League handball for two months proved why the international club competition will be missed. In Berlin it was all down to the final attack, when Dejan Milosavljev made a save to grant the home team maximum points. Füchse had the upper hand most of the time after the break, but Sporting wouldn’t be distanced and had the chance to the very end.
Paris Saint-Germain demolished Dinamo Bucharest and broke the 40 goal barrier once again. Soon into the second half, PSG had a double-digit lead and top scoring duo Jacob Holm (nine goals) and Fathy Omar (eight) secured a controlled cruise for the guests towards 40–33.
Barcelona is the team to beat in group B. RK Zagreb was put to the test in Palau Blaugrana and had a hard time after conceding 23 goals in the first half. Melyvin Richardson produced eleven goals for the top team and Emil Nielsen added 16 saves to the solid defense.
Aalborg has received a confidence boost under the lead of interim coach Simon Dahl. While Pick Szeged clinched a narrow lead in the first half, the was plenty of time for Aalborg’s playmaker Thomas Arnoldsen and his back court colleague Jack Thurin to turn the tide. Szeged fell on to many mistakes after the break and Aalborg is tied with HBC Nantes in the tight race for top two.
