Aalborg Handball secures spot in quarterfinals

Aalborg Handball achieved a place in the quarterfinals of the Machineseeker EHF Champions League without playing a match on Thursday evening. Following their victory against HC Eurofarm Pelister from North Macedonia on Wednesday night, the team found cause for celebration as results from various matches across Europe solidified.

In Group A of the competition, Aalborg Handball’s position was secured as Paris Saint-Germain faced HC Zagreb away from home. Paris Saint-Germain, contending for the crucial second spot in the group leading to direct entry into the quarterfinals, required a victory to keep their aspirations alive. However, HC Zagreb’s 28–26 victory over Paris Saint-Germain ensured Aalborg Handball’s unassailable hold on the second spot in the group, despite one round of matches remaining in the preliminary round.

Consequently, Aalborg Handball bypasses the Round of 16 and advances directly to the quarterfinals, scheduled to take place in the middle of the week in weeks 17 and 18 in April. This marks the third instance of the team reaching this stage of the tournament.

Their opponents in the quarterfinals will be determined by the winner of the Round of 16 match between the third-placed team in Group B and the sixth-placed team in Group A.
