Kielce´s protest denied by EHF

After the CL quarter final between SC Magdeburg and Industria Kielce the polish team made an appeal to EHF. The protest has been rapidly refused by the Court of Handball who rules that decisions by referees can’t be opposed.

The game went all the way to penalty shootout. But the situation that Kielce points at occurred with four seasons to go of the ordinary playing time.

Kielce´s Artsem Karalek had received a pass and found himself one-to-one with Magdeburg goalkeeper when the referees whistle was heard.

Kielce received a free throw but was unable to score until the time ran out.

”After a careful evaluation of the situation, the panel determined that the decision was based on the EHF referees’ observation of the factual situation within the course of the match”, writes eurohandball.com with a further note that such decisions ”shall be regarded as factual and thus final decisions not being subject to any protest.”

Kielce might file an appeal to the EHF Court within the coming days. Meanwhile, SC Magdeburg who won the shootout has advanced to Final four.
