Kristjánsson is the male player of the year in Iceland

Gisli Kristjánsson has been out injured during this autumn. But despite this he has now been awarded with the price as player of the year back in his native Iceland.

Gisli Kristjánsson played a vital role when SC Magdeburg were victorious in the Champions League earlier this year. The Icelandic playmaker carried his team to the gold medal – despite being severely injured.

The heroics has caused Kristjánsson to miss the entire autumn and there is hope that Kristjánsson will be back in time for the Euros.

But now, the Icelandic federation has announced that Kristjánsson is the male player of the year. An award that he gets over players like Omar Ingi Magnússon and Bjarki Már Elisson.

The award as women’s player of the year was handed to Sandra Erlingsdóttir.
