One of Iceland’s greatest handball players is calling it a career. Aron Pálmarsson will retire at the end of the season, bringing to a close a decorated journey across Europe’s top clubs.
The 34-year-old Icelandic playmaker has announced that he will step away from professional handball after the current season, citing the physical demands of the sport as the primary reason for his decision. Hungarian powerhouse Veszprém confirmed the news on Sunday through an official statement.
Pálmarsson, who still had one year left on his contract with the club, personally requested to end his career early. In a heartfelt Instagram post, he reflected on his journey:
