Veszprém are the champions of the Hungarian league after their victory against Pick Szeged in the playoff final. The win makes them champions for the 28th time.
Telekom Veszprém were heavy favorites to take home the Hungarian league title heading into the second leg of their doubleheader against Pick Szeged. The reigning champions had no trouble securing the title this year as well.
After ten minutes of play, the away team was ahead of Szeged by three goals and they never looked back. The lead was brought down to two multiple times in the second half, but Pick Szeged couldn’t get any closer.
The victory marks Veszprém’s 28th time winning the Hungarian league. However, with a fresh start next year and Michael Appelgren at the helm—having won the last eight out of ten possible domestic cups as a coach—Pick Szeged will undoubtedly pose a challenge to Veszprém.
