Pick Szeged have secured the signing of Lukas Sandell. The right back has signed a three-year contract with the top Hungarian side, running from 2026 to 2029.
It is now confirmed that Sandell will return to Hungary, where he previously spent three years with Veszprém. Sandell joined Rhein-Neckar Löwen ahead of this season, but his stay in Germany will last only one year.
With the move, Sandell will join fellow Swedes Jim Gottfridsson, Tobias Thulin, and national team coach Michael Apelgren. On the club’s website, Sandell described how his national teammates helped convince him to make the move.
– I am very happy to return to Hungary, to a club that has earned great respect in Europe. My national teammates, Jim Gottfridsson and Tobias Thulin, also told me about life in Szeged, and our national coach, Michael Apelgren, also spoke a lot about the fantastic handball atmosphere in the city.
For Pick Szeged, the signing of Sandell is a major reinforcement. The right back has for a long time shown that he is one of the best in the world in his position, bringing great quality and experience to the team.
