Pick Szeged will have almost completely new squad at the start of 2024/2025 season. It is now clear that the Hungarian team has signed a contract with Janus Smárason.

One of the new faces in Pick Szeged will be playmaker Janus Smárason. He most recently comes from SC Magdeburg, but has now signed a two-year contract with Pick Szeged. Janus Smárason has played 72 games for the Icelandic national team and scored 114 goals.

– I am delighted that we managed to reach an agreement, and I am joining a club with great traditions. I have personally experienced how popular handball is in Szeged. Many of my national team colleagues have told me about how wonderful the PICK Arena is and the fantastic atmosphere created by the fanbase. I’m looking forward to the start, I’m looking forward to next summer when I can put on the blue jersey, says Janus Smárason to the club’s website.
