HSG Wetzlar´s experienced back court player Nemanja Zelenovic got hurt during a league game last weekend. A devastating outcome was announced after further examination, Zelenovic suffered a serious knee injury and is out for the rest of the season.
Wetzlar´s homepage presents the negative news. The Bundesliga team faced THW Kiel Saturday evening when Zelenovic had an ominous incident.
The 34-year-old tore a cruciate ligament, a medial ligament and damaged the meniscus in his left knee. As a result, he will be out of play for at least ten months.
– We are so sorry for Nemanja. Of course, he has been receiving full support from our doctors since Saturday evening to help him make a full recovery. But this is a big shock for him, but of course also for the whole team and us, says the sport director Jasmin Camdzic to the club webpage.
Zelenovic has been a capable right back for Wetzlar since 2023. When the injury occurred he was occupied with his tenth season in Bundesliga.
