With no more than a week remaining to the start of the league season, SG Flensburg-Handewitt fought off Aalborg HB 41–38 on away ground. The highlight of the evening for the German side was the return of Simon Pytlick in the playing squad.
Pytlick hadn´t played since February because of a fractured arm. There might not have been enough minutes on court for the Danish star to fully satisfy his keen mind, but the performance for around 15 minutes proved him well adapted to the cooperation with the other back court players and also capable of own shots.
– For me personally, it was very nice to be back doing what I love so much, namely playing handball, Pytlick said to the club webpage.
Either defense experienced success in fending of their opponent, Pytlick played the end of the first half and returned to keep Flensburg in the lead towards the final minutes of the match.
– That was a good performance – and that also applies to the defense, even though we conceded so many goals, he said to the club website.
Next Sunday, Flensburg travels to HSG Wetzlar for the first round of Bundesliga action.
