Rhein-Neckar Löwen in narrow win over Leipzig

Rhein-Neckar Löwen and SC Leipzig got involved in a tight Thursday battle. Leipzig came so close to end their losing streak but the home team ruled by a small margin.

Despite scoring 34 goals and pushing RNL to the finish line, Leipzig couldn’t break the spell and improve the situation on 14th place. There is no obvious danger for the classic club to be embroiled in relegation matters, on the other hand the chances are thinning out to advance much higher in the table.

Andri Mar Runarsson (nine goals) Luca Witzke (eight) and Franz Semper (seven) were a capable trio for the guests

During the final minutes, RNL managed to overturn 32–33 to 34–33. Both teams had goalkeepers prepared to show match winning qualities, Kristjan Saeveraas in Leipzig stood between the posts as Lindenchrone (nine goals) shot wide from the penalty line in an attempt to decide the game.

In the next attack, David Späth hindered Leipzig from equalising and time ran out.

Rhein-Neckar Löwen used the two points to step up to seventh place, passing TBV Lemgo Lippe.
