Play: Lemgo stuns Berlin

Füchse Berlin suffered a shock defeat at home to Lemgo. The reigning champions fell 33–34 in a tight battle, dealing a significant blow to Berlin’s title defense.

Berlin had been on a terrific run of form, winning games in all competitions, and the feeling going into Saturday’s clash against Lemgo was that it would be another routine win.

But Lemgo had other plans, coming out firing on all cylinders and shocking the home side. Berlin trailed for almost the entire game and, despite eight goals from star player Mathias Gidsel, the team suffered a surprising home defeat.

The loss means that Berlin drops to fifth place in the league, with Lemgo overtaking them.
