Melsungen lost with injury-ridden squad

MT Melsungen failed to muster attacking force and was hindered with 21–23 versus HSG Wetzlar. TBV Stuttgart denied HBW Balingen-Weilstetten´s final roar for two vital points in a local derby.

Melsungen´s long injury list reduced the performance, in combination with a well-prepared Wetzlar defense. Lenny Rubin och Hendrik Wagner took charge of the game and Melsungen had to accept a chasing role.

If victorious, Melsungen would have passed THW Kiel and reached fourth position. Instead, the table number five remained with the same destiny as the zebra team, a home loss.

Roberto Garcia Parrondo had to take all factors into account in his analysis.

– Of course we are all disappointed. But basically our entire week was a disaster; we could hardly train because of sick and injured people, he said to the official webpage of the league.

Balingen-Weilstetten can’t avoid the last position but the inspiration followed the guests throughout in the duel against Stuttgart. Still Stuttgart´s more balanced qualities came to good use with back court stars Egon Hanusz and Adam Lönn both taking part in the snatch in the beginning of the second half.

Stuttgart seems relatively stable on home ground and kept cool until 30–27 was a fact.
