Marko Kopljar resumes duty in Potsdam

The prominent back court player Marko Kopljar makes the switch to a trainer career. VfL Potsdam in 2. Bundesliga signs the 39-year-old as assistant coach.

Potsdam works in close cooperation with Füchse Berlin, which Kopljar knows inside out after spending seven seasons in the capital team.

Winning the title in European League with SG Flensburg-Handewitt became the last real success for Kopljar on court. The coach path gets him busy together with the head coach, Emir Kurtagic.

– Sometimes you have to wait to get the best. I’m very pleased that we were able to secure him as assistant coach and fulfill Emir’s wish.

– Marko was a model professional at Füchse Berlin, who talked and worked extensively with our young players, says Potsdam’s sporting director Bob Hanning to the club webpage.

RK Zagreb, Paris Saint-Germain, FC Barcelona and Telekom Veszprém all held Kopljar in very high regard on the payroll. Now he reaps yet another award after the decision to move to Germany.

– I’m very much looking forward to my first coaching position, helping to develop young talent and providing the club with advice and support, he says to the club webpage.
